Prayer Requests

Tony Thomas

I have in the last two years been posting need for prayer for my son Christopher Robin Thomas. He has bone cancer. He has been a faithful Royal Ranger for the last ten years and has not missed any Powwow's during this time. He is a ranger in Outpost 186 in Fernandina beach, Florida. Although sick a lot and having to have special accomidations for Powwow, he has loved the last two years he has gone. He needs every prayer warrior going to the Father today. He is in ICU now with gangrene. The doctors have given him less than two months to live. He has fought hard against cancer, sickness, disability of loosing one leg, struggling in his school work, staying faithful to God, church, and Rangers, loving his family and friends, keeping his spirits high, and making plans for his future. Now all the professionals have given up hope and thrown in the towel. Now his only hope is in Jesus. Only through the healing power, love, mercy, grace, and will of God will he survive this. I know my son is saved and if he leaves this world he will be rejoicing in heaven, but his family is having trouble dealing with this. He has so many plans for a great future serving the Lord and helping others. I know God can save him and bring him through this, but it will take as many prayers to the Father as possible. I thank you and appreciate all of you great men of God and all that you do. May our Lord keep you and watch over you, alway.

For over a year my son Christopher has struggled with bone cancer. He had his right leg removed a year ago and attended PowWow in April in a wheel chair and had a great time. He had just taken what we thought would be his last chemo treatment and he would begin a new phase in his life. After having full body scans to check for any evidence of the cancer the doctors discovered spots on his lungs. We now fear that the cancer has moved into his lungs and threatens his life. He has been with the Rangers for nine years and has been limited by this illness to attend many functions, but still loves the ministy and desires to enter into the leadership phase as soon as he can. We are looking for the will of our Lord in this situation so that He may be glorified and honored. We ask for prayer that the will and desire of God is done, healing is the Lords plan,  and that peace and understanding is given to our family and Christopher. His faith and love for Jesus is strong and he refuses to surrender to the enemy and allow anything from God to be stollen. Thank you Commanders for you prayers.

This is an update to my son Christophers' condition. He has a date now for the surgery for the amputation of his right leg. The date is October 27, 2009. Please be in prayer for him. All we ask for is that the will of the Father be in his life and if his leg does have to be removed that some good will come from it and that God will be glorified at the end of all of this. The family is struggling hard with all that is happening, but our faith and confidence in God and his plan and purpose in our lives, especially Christophers', is strong. We know that He is with us and will never abandon us during this time. Thank you Commanders for all the great work you are doing. May the Father always watch over you and bless you as you walk with His son,the Christ, while doing His will in this world. Tony Thomas. Outpost 186.

Good morning men of God. My name is Tony Thomas. I am currently not a commander, but in the past I was a commander with the Royal Rangers at Outpost 186 in Fernandina beach Florida. My brother, Dave Thoms, who has been with the Rangers for many years, is currently the Senior Commander of the Outpost. I am in desperate need of a movement of God in my sons life. About four months ago he was diagnosed with bone cancer in his right legs with a tumor just below his knee.  He has been going through chemo treatments and had bone removal surgery to take the tumor out. They took a small portion of his leg bone as well. Now, two weeks after the surgery, they are telling us that he still has active cancer cells in his blood and that to fully remove any remainder  of the cancer they are going to have to remove is leg at the least from the knee down. He is devastated as well as his mother and I, but he has not given up on God working in his life. And has said that even if he looses his leg, he knows that God has a plan for all this and something good will come from it for someone. In all suffering we know that somewhere, sometime, someone will benefit from it and come closer to Him. My sons name is Christopher Thomas and has been with the Rangers for many years and is almost finished with his GMA. His battle with cancer has put him a little behind with the last stage of this, but is planning on getting back to finishing as soon as he can. With the chemo and surgery, he has been weaken to the point he cannot attend school, but will be attending virtual school to finish and get his diploma, plus he intends to go to college and go into a field that will one day allow him to work with cancer patients, especially children, since he has experienced this and has a story to tell as well as being able to glorify God. All I ask is that the dedicated men of God of this ministry pray for my son and that the wonderful will of our Lord God be in his life and whatever the outcome of all this, that our faith in Him is strengthen and God be gloified. Thank you. And may the Lord God bless you all, this ministry and keep us all in His holy and merciful hands.

Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't
Author :Jim Collins
Take a look

The Challenge
Built to Last, the defining management study of the nineties, showed how great companies triumph over time and how long-term sustained performance can be engineered into the DNA of an enterprise from the verybeginning.

But what about the company that is not born with great DNA? How can good companies, mediocre companies, even bad companies achieve enduring greatness?

The Study
For years, this question preyed on the mind of Jim Collins. Are there companies that defy gravity and convert long-term mediocrity or worse into long-term superiority? And if so, what are the universal distinguishing characteristics that cause a company to go from good to great?

The Standards
Using tough benchmarks, Collins and his research team identified a set of elite companies that made the leap to great results and sustained those results for at least fifteen years. How great? After the leap, the good-to-great companies generated cumulative stock returns that beat the general stock market by an average of seven times in fifteen years, better than twice the results delivered by a composite index of the world's greatest companies, including Coca-Cola, Intel, General Electric, and Merck.

The Comparisons
The research team contrasted the good-to-great companies with a carefully selected set of comparison companies that failed to make the leap from good to great. What was different? Why did one set of companies become truly great performers while the other set remained only good?

Over five years, the team analyzed the histories of all twenty-eight companies in the study. After sifting through mountains of data and thousands of pages of interviews, Collins and his crew discovered the key determinants of greatness -- why some companies make the leap and others don't.

The Findings
The findings of the Good to Great study will surprise many readers and shed light on virtually every area of management strategy and practice. The findings include:

  • Level 5 Leaders: The research team was shocked to discover the type of leadership required to achieve greatness.
  • The Hedgehog Concept (Simplicity within the Three Circles): To go from good to great requires transcending the curse of competence.
  • A Culture of Discipline: When you combine a culture of discipline with an ethic of entrepreneurship, you get the magical alchemy of great results. Technology Accelerators: Good-to-great companies think differently about the role of technology.
  • The Flywheel and the Doom Loop: Those who launch radical change programs and wrenching restructurings will almost certainly fail to make the leap.

“Some of the key concepts discerned in the study,” comments Jim Collins, "fly in the face of our modern business culture and will, quite frankly, upset some people.”

Perhaps, but who can afford to ignore these findings?
